Health Physical Education and Recreation
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Wright State University prepares health and physical educators to meet the Ohio Department of Education multi-age licensure requirements for students pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in dynamic and diverse educational settings. In addition, students may also choose an undergraduate certification in adapted physical education, a major in athletic training, or graduate training and licensure as a school nurse.
 
Mission Statement
The mission of the department is to educate all individuals in the development of a healthy,active lifestyle, and to advance the health care of physically active individuals through the integration of theoretical and applied practice in educational and clinical settings.

Adapted Physical Education
The goal of the Adaptive Physical Education program is to prepare students for competent, safe and contemporary service as an entry-level Adapted Physical Education specialist that will allow them to prepare physically active and educated students with disabilities for transition into adulthood. more>>

Athletic Training
The athletic trainer is a qualified health care professional educated and experienced in the management of health care problems associated with sports participation. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health care personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, Professional sports programs, sports medicine clinics, and other health care settings. more>>

Basic Instruction in Physical Education(BIPE) Classes

Health Education and Physical Education

School Nurse Programs
Twp programs providing a path to school nurse specialization A nurse who complete the M.S. program will meet the requirements for Ohio’s school nurse licensure. And the School Nurse Certificate Program is a 22 graduate credit hours non-degree program that is a collaborative offering between the College of Nursing and Health and the College of Education and Human Services leading to endorsement for licensure as a school nurse in Ohio. more>>
