Adolescent to Young Adult Admission Information
The 2 Basic Program Admissions Requirements
1) A completed graduate level initial teacher licensure preparation programs application includes (this is a separate application from the School of Graduate Studies application)
(to save on printing and postage we prefer you download and print the graduate level initial teacher licensure preparation programs application )
- a writing sample (sign up for a session by calling us at (937) 775-3086)
- a short narrative regarding computer literacy and experience working with children - write us a paragraph or two describing your experiences, if any, working with young people and the same describing your self assessment of where are at in terms of exposure to and understanding of computers and search technologies.
- Completion of (subject) content course work for your desired area(s) of teaching
- (if you are completing/have completed one of WSU's bachelor degree programs that are designed to deliver content knowledge, then you have completed all the necessary content requirements)
- submission of all pages of the the original score report of the passing Praxis II subject assessment(s) (content area exam) - call/visit to learn more about these exams. Students will be required to have passed the Praxis II exam(s) in their subject area to enter the program. Our accrediting agency requires us to collect the sub-score report from you on all the passing subject area exams. The School of Graduate Studies requires us to see your original report, photocopy it for you and endorse the copy as "saw original" and "passed". We are required to submit those scores to the School of Graduate Studies for the candidate.
Note: The state of Ohio requires all students to successfully complete the Principles of Learning and Teaching Assessment and a Specialty Area exam(s) before being recommended for licensure.

2) Acceptance to WSU's School of Graduate studies requires:
- an application to the School of Graduate Studies
- an undergraduate degree
- content studies are complete (if you are completing/have completed one of WSU's bachelor degree programs that are designed to deliver content knowledge, then you have completed all the necessary content requirements)
- a 2.7 undergraduate grade point average (gpa's below a 2.7 may be considered by filing an admission petition to the School of Graduate Studies at the time of your application, you can request to be "Conditionally Accepted")
- submission of test score(s) on state of Ohio mandated Praxis II exam(s) in the teaching specialty area (call /visit us, to learn more about these exams). Students will be required to have passed the Praxis II exam(s) in their subject area to enter the program
- acceptance into a graduate level initial licensure program by the teacher education department faculty/chair
