The Early Childhood Education program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Education degree with licensure. The program is designed so that students complete general education and content courses as freshman and sophmores and begin the Early Childhood program as juniors as members of a cohort group. The program consists of five quarters of integrated coursework and field experiences and one quarter of student teaching. Recommendation for licensure requires successful completion of the program and passing scores on required Praxis II examinations.

Wright State offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. The Early Childhood Program requires 192 quarter hours and includes 57.5 quarter hours in General Education Courses, 49.5 quarter hours in Curriculum Content Courses and 83 quarter hours in Professional Education courses

Specific courses have been included to ensure that candidates develop theoretical and practical knowledge in humanities, mathematics and technology, social sciences, biological and physical sciences, the arts and personal health and fitness. Included also are the courses that incorporate multi-cultural and global perspectives in the general education requirements

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed.)

The Early Childhood Education Licensure Program is based on an undergraduate B.S. Ed. degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-3).

Upon successful completion of the licensure portion of the program and passing Praxis II Exam in Principles of Teaching and Learning (#30521 or #30522), candidates are eligible for an Ohio provisional license Early Childhood (PK-3) (#71).

Note: The Pre-K-3 licensure program prepares students to teach children from birth through grade three. The Pre-K-3 license qualifies a graduate for employment in daycare, nursery school, headestart, public and private preschools, and primary (K-3) elementary grades.
