Additional Changes in the Unit:

Changes resulting from the move from certification to licensure required by the Ohio Department of Education have impacted all grade levels and content areas.  Elementary Education is now Early Education (ages 3-8), Middle Education (ages 8-14) and Secondary Education became Adolescent Education (ages 12-21). Former K-12 programs are Multiage (ages 3-21). Special Education is now Intervention Specialists and previous categories are condensed into three areas: Mild-Moderate, Moderate-Severe, and Gifted.

All students working on old certificates programs of study must be completed before Sept. 2, 2002. Consequently we are phasing out our old certification programs and implementing new licensure programs.

During 1999-2000, a new baccalaureate degree program in Organizational Leadership was approved by the Department of Education Leadership, College of Education of Human Services, Wright State University Board of Trustees, and the Ohio Board of Regents. The intent of the degree is to provide a degree-completion program for students who hold an Associate Degree and need a 4-year degree to advance in their career choice.
