Fall Quarter 1999

October 29College Faculty Meeting – 8:30 a.m. to 12 Noon

Overview of the Conceptual Framework: Purpose; the
cognitive roadmap, constructing a cognitive roadmap,
example of a roadmap for multicultural education.

Conceptual Themes Presentations.

Faculty are to prepare individual one-page conceptual themes
(visuals) to share at the December 6 meeting.
Participants: All College Faculty

December 6 College Faculty Meeting – 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Conceptual Themes Presented; small/large group discussions of
individual conceptual themes.

Winter Quarter 2000

March 8 College Faculty Meeting – 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Conceptual Framework Progress Report; strands identified and
described; performance driven language reflecting newstandards
and changein emphasis from the teacher to thelearner; objectives for each of the six strands are being developed and intertwined with the other five.

Participants: All College Faculty

Timeline: March 20 - Faculty are to submit bibliography
entries for each strand.

March 30 – Small working groups are to develop
rubrics for each strand.

Spring Quarter 2000

March 31 College Faculty Meeting – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Review of rubrics/strands that have been identified and
described in support of the framework.

Introduction to the development of critical learning experiences
that anchor candidates’ preparation, serve as reference
points or establish the foundation for other learning, and
provide evidence that objectives and standards have been
met.

Faculty are to complete bibliographies, develop critical
learning experiences, and begin to incorporate strands and
learning experiences into their syllabi (a collaborative,
departmental activity).

Participants: All College Faculty.

April Dr. Hollins distributed a list of proposed titles for the frame-
work for faculty suggestions and feedback.

May 15 Dr. Hollins distributed a second list of proposed titles for the
framework for faculty suggestions and feedback.

May 31 College Faculty Meeting – 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

College Faculty approved the Conceptual Framework with the six strands and the concept of the framework graphic.

Participants: All College Faculty

August 11 With no single title for the framework receiving a significant number of
approvals, Dr. Bernhardt asked the faculty to consider the following title
that had been recently suggested: Developing the Art & Science of (Human
Services) (Educational Leaders) (Teachers) - A variable title such as the one adopted in 1989 (Teacher/Counselor/Supervisor/Principal) as Developing Professional and Problem Solver and modified by department in 1996. Title was approved by College Faculty.

All faculty were contacted by email and in a memorandum for their suggestions and vote on accepting the title.

Fall Quarter 2000

October Small working group prepared the introduction to the
November Conceptual Framework.

Summer 2001

June Conceptual Framework finalized as a graphic.

August Conceptual Framework graphic distributed to the faculty, staff, members of the
Teacher Education Council, and our School Partners.
